During the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the West Bank, we are asking that you donate to aid the Palestinian people. There are many appeals and it is not easy to know which are legitimate. Here are some suggestions.
UNRWA United Nations Refugee and Works Agency – Across the region, millions of Palestine Refugee families depend on UNRWA for food and cash assistance, education, health care, and other humanitarian support. Your Zakat goes 100% to families in need. Website
The Hebron International Resource Network (HIRN) is an organization comprised of local Palestinians and international allies. Using the principles of Sumud (steadfast hope), they seek to support Palestinians living near settlements. By supporting their right to water, safe housing, movement, and education, Palestinians are more likely to stay on their land and in their homes. Their existence is resistance. Donations are made by going to the Non-violence International website and chosing HIRN to donate. It is tax deductible as a US donation.
I have personally seen first hand the work they do and the difference they are making for people living in Area C of the West Bank.
Funds can be sent to the following partner organizations via the The United Church of Canada to receive a donation receipt.

• The Department of Service to Palestinian Refugees “DSPR” of the Middle East Council of Churches.
• B’tselem– The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories strives for a future in which human rights, liberty and equality are guaranteed to all people, Palestinian and Jewish alike.
• Joint Advocacy Initiative of the YM/YWCA of East Jerusalem – Olive Tree Campaign
• Kairos Palestine is a Christian Palestinian movement, born out of the Kairos Document, which advocates for ending the Israeli occupation.
• Wi’am: The Palestinian Conflict Transformation Centre.
• Sabeel: Local Christians inspired by the life and teaching of Jesus Christ stand for the oppressed, work for justice.
Rabbi David Mivasair organized a fundraiser for families in Gaza. He has contact with families there and the money will go directly to those living in extreme deprivation.
